Brookline High School

About

Howdy. I’m Ms. Kissel. Unless you’re lost in the interwebs, I’m probably your physics teacher. I’ve been teaching at BHS since 1998. Before that I taught 8th grade math and science in Sudbury.

This is my cat Oliver. He doesn’t mind when I squeeze him like this. He always comes back for more, so I assume he actually likes it.

I also have another cat named Sebastian. She was found behind the school by a custodian when she was a tiny 2 1/2 week old kitten. I had to feed her kitten formula with a bottle. She even came to school with me for 2 weeks. She has a boy’s name because the vet said she was a male cat. Woops.

Like asteroids? I own one. Sort of. Okay, I don’t own it, but it’s named after me thanks to a BHS student who won a science competition. It’s even on Wikipedia!

And what’s even better is that a band called Giant Target made a song out of my Wikipedia entry. You can listen to it here: 21450 Kissel You can even play some of their songs on Rock Band, something you should like because you are a teenager, right?

If I’m not teaching physics or harassing my cats, there’s a good chance that you’ll find me applying the concepts of friction, normal force, and tension to my latest addiction, rock climbing. Or I might be biking around the city or taking photos somewhere. I also do a lot of cooking (and eating). And on a very good day, I’m planning a trip to some faraway place, often in a location where I can practice my Spanish and/or see monkeys in the wild.
